Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick

Droning around the Bridge

NOTICE about drones….

Don’t plan to fly your drone on Jekyll Island. If caught the fines can be substantial. St. Simons is out also. So is Brunswick. I found an area near Liberty Park at one end of the Sidney Lanier Bridge where I could fly mine. It was a good place to practice and get some good video of the bridge. There are good reasons for these rules but it is still disappointing.

Droning on the way to Jekyll Island. Watch the You Tube video of the bridge and the area around Liberty Park.

DEER……We found that the island is so full of deer that we spotted 41 one night and 26 one night. We call it deer hunting

Gatlinburg Thanksgiving 2021

Twin Creek RV Resort

Camping during Thanksgiving has become a regular thing for us and our son’s family. We have camped at several campgrounds on Wears Valley Road and in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. But this year we are checking out Twin Creek RV Resort in Gatlinburg. We don’t have small kids so we don’t get into the amusement park type of activities like miniature golf, etc. We fish, hike, shop, visit the Christmas Place, and take in a few shows in Pigeon Forge. I think there are about a million things to do in Gatlinburg but I won’t be telling you about them unless they interested me enough to visit them. Gatlinburg is famous for the Sky Bridge that has a glass bottom for about 30 feet. Not for me! But you might enjoy it. Check the internet for thing to do in Gatlinburg.

Fields of the Wood

Fields of the Wood is a Ten Commandments Park located near Murphy, NC. The park started with the ten commandments displayed in cement on the side of a hill with cement steps going up to the top where a large replica of the bible stands and references the first two commandments. I first found out about the park from a man I met in Pigeon Forge in 2019. He had adopted a personal ministry to get bible verses into homes. As a farmer, he used his free time during the year to pour cement sheep and write bible verses on the sides of the sheep. He would paint the sheep and take them to Fields of the Wood and place them along the commandments all the way up the hill. He noticed that they would go missing and thought this was great. If people were taking them home then bible verses were getting into these homes. It seems that now he is working with the park and they will give you a sheep when you make a donation to the park. I just missed him this year by two weeks. I thought he always went on Thanksgiving, but he jumped the gun this year and went earlier. For some reason he is no longer writing verses on the sheep, but the park gives you a lot of literature, etc., with the sheep which details his ministry.
