Our first rig was a 36′ Jayco pull behind and a 2001 Ford F-350 superduty. I don’t what got into me. I chose a weekend when Cheryl was out of town to dirve to Gainsville, Ga., and shop for a camper at Camping World. I didn’t do drugs so I can’t recall what took over my brain.
Fortunately for us, we really liked the camper. And really did not like Camping World. And really hated the Hensley Arrow hitch that I never got used to backing into. I want to say that Hensley Arrow company was great to work with. I just did not get along with that hitch. I think the hitch was top notch and took all of the sway out of pulling the camper, but it was not for me. Hensley Arrow bought it back from me and I started looking for a fifth wheel camper.

I finally found what I was looking for at Bama RV in Dothan, Alabama. It was an Open Range Light fifth wheel that was 35.5′ long. We really enjoyed this camper. Made a lot of great trips with it. But after a few years I started noticing that many of the upgrade features were being offered as standard on most campers. When Integrity RV in Douglasville, Ga., put a new awning on the camper for me water started to get around the screws and into the walls and cause delamination. I let Integrity seal around the screws on the awning, but knew that I had to start looking again. By this time I had a new truck and could pull most anything with this 2024 F350 Superduty.

Said goodbye to the 2017 Open Range and Hello to the 2024 Bighorn. We really enjoyed the Open Range but it is time to upgrade. A few years makes a big difference in the options that are offered. The Bighorn will add solar panels, inverter, self-leveling, a more convenient floor plan, DC frig, residential appliances, king bed, and an extra 2 feet in length.

I found what I was looking for at Great American RV in Heflin, Alabama. These folks have been great to work with and I love the camper. I will say that changing campers is a lot of work and I don’t want to do it again!
