Let’s Go Fishing
When we are not camping we enjoy fishing with our kids and grandkids. They tournament fish and we like to go and take pictures. Here is a drone video of the blast off for a night tournament at Lake Wedowee in Alabama. It started at 4pm on 8/16/25 so there was plenty of light to take shots from the drone.
The link to their fishing club website is http://www.bremenbassanglers.net. You can also search for bremenbassanglers on both Facebook and Instagram.
We usually make it down to a restaurant in Darian, Georgia, called Skippers in February each year. Here are a couple of pics of us at Skippers.

Where the Ocoee joins the Hiawassee River

Now for my drone footage of the campground. Remember I am just a beginner with the drone. We took 12 folks up to raft the Hiawassee. The Williamsons and Demkowskis from Bremen and the Martins from Talking Rock. Getting to be a yearly trip. We stayed in site X and it was super.
One thing you want to do while here is float the Hiawasse River. The Hiawassee Outfitters are located in Reliance, Tn. Check out this review on You Tube. It’s not us but they are having fun

Biking through Whitetail Ridge COE
What I’m not telling you is that I have to get Cheryl well before we go to Damascus, Va., to ride the Virginia Creeper trail. I need her to peddle and keep the back end of that tandem bike close to the front end! So I keep pushing her to get well!!! Time is running out!

Petersburg COE
Near Augusta Georgia

We bought the 32RS in Heflin at GARV and give them high marks for customer satisfaction. We found a few minor issues that Matt took care of pronto. Plumbing leaks, defective GFCI outlet, coax issues, etc. After the first trip to Petersburg COE all of these issues were discovered and fixed. Thanks GARV. Love the auto level feature!
The wind and white capping lasted for about three days. Reminded me of conditions I have seen on Lake Eufaula, a north-south lake. This was on an east west portion of Strom Thurmond (better know as Clark’s Hill Lake).
Jekyll Island Campground 2024
What’s new this year
Be sure to subscribe to this blog so that you will be notified by email when a new blog comes out. I plan to do a blog after our trip to Branson in April , 2024.

The Iconic JI sign is gone! No longer welcoming you to the JI Causeway. They replaced it once but after that one came down they just gave up! I miss it!

I found out tonight, 3/24/24), the reason the amphitheater was closed in 1985 was because the mosquitoes were eating people alive!!!! His family had a house on Jekyll from the late 60s until recently and he actually attended performances in this amphitheater.
At the pier on Jekyll Island we ran into a bunch of bikers with BRAG. They were doing a section of the ride across Georgia. The bus was cool.

Now on to the reason for this Destination trip…to find as many Dawg Statues as we could in one day and take our picture with the Dawgs.

Dozens of larger-than-life bulldog statues stand guard throughout Athens, GA, a public art display that is fun for all ages. Whether you are a fan of public art, a die-hard UGA Bulldog, a kid or a kid at heart, you’ll enjoy seeking out these statues while you are in Athens, Georgia.
The “We Let the Dawgs Out” public art exhibit, first installed by the Athens-Oconee Junior Women’s Club in 2003, is perhaps the most visible statement of Athens’ multiple personalities, bringing together our college town’s creative energy, artistic flair, and UGA Bulldog loyalty. The original three-dozen statues were painted by prominent local artists including Stan Mullins, Peter Loose, and Chris Wyrick, with an eye towards color, humor, and local flavor. The official project ended in 2010 when the statues were auctioned off by the Club, generating $25,000, which was donated to AIDS Athens. However, many of the original statues remain on display throughout Athens and are accompanied by a new generation of bulldog statues.
The Athens GA bulldog statues are made of fiberglass and stand four feet high (exact dimensions are 70″ x 33″ x 44″).
Spend any time walking around Athens and you’re bound to see happy visitors of all ages marveling over the bulldogs and taking their picture. These bulldog statues are the original Selfie Spots in Athens!
