When we are not camping we enjoy fishing with our kids and grandkids. They tournament fish and we like to go and take pictures. Here is a drone video of the blast off for a night tournament at Lake Wedowee in Alabama. It started at 4pm on 8/16/25 so there was plenty of light toContinue reading “Let’s Go Fishing”

What I’m not telling you is that I have to get Cheryl well before we go to Damascus, Va., to ride the Virginia Creeper trail. I need her to peddle and keep the back end of that tandem bike close to the front end! So I keep pushing her to get well!!! Time is runningContinue reading “Biking through Whitetail Ridge COE”
Near Augusta Georgia We bought the 32RS in Heflin at GARV and give them high marks for customer satisfaction. We found a few minor issues that Matt took care of pronto. Plumbing leaks, defective GFCI outlet, coax issues, etc. After the first trip to Petersburg COE all of these issues were discovered and fixed. ThanksContinue reading “Petersburg COE”

The trip to Jekyll is a yearly February trip, and this year there are five sections: Hutto Farm, Out and About on Jekyll Island, Three Oaks Farm Trail Ride, Superbowl Party 2023, and Cumberland Island.
Add Doll Mountain to your bucket list. Be sure to visit Trackrock Stables and take a trail ride. Plan a hiking trip to Helton Creek Falls. Don’t miss Jim’s Smoking BBQ. And of course, go to Alexanders for just about anything you may want. All of this is in Blairsville, my favorite Georgia mountain town.
If you like to RV camp and you have not been to Camp Gulf, then you need to add this campground to your target destinations. Labor Day kicks in lower prices and a more mature crowd!
It is always interesting to check up on these two sites every once in a while to see how they are holding up and adapting as the years go by. I’ve been going to these two sites for over half a century. While I avoid crowded destinations to camp at, these two places make aContinue reading “Side Trip to Brasstown Bald and Helen while camping at Trackrock”
I rode a horse about 57 years ago on my first date with my wife at a farm at the base of Stone Mountain in Decatur, Georgia. We both rode the same horse. So I may need a few pointers for this week’s trail ride at Trackrock Stables. Trackrock is my favorite place to go for a trail ride in the mountains.

Stalking his dinner…and devouring it On our annual February trip to Jekyll Island we took a long walk from the pier on the north end of the island to Driftwood Beach. It is probably a mile or more. Along the way I spotted this pelican and thought his fishing tactics were very clever and successful.Continue reading “Attack Pelican”
A day trip to a place I have never been. There are a few, maybe 50, residents on the island. But no longer do they have a school. There are 5 kids who take the ferry to the mainland everyday for school and get back home by 4pm. I didn’t see a store that wasContinue reading “Sapelo Island”
Droning around the Bridge NOTICE about drones…. Don’t plan to fly your drone on Jekyll Island. If caught the fines can be substantial. St. Simons is out also. So is Brunswick. I found an area near Liberty Park at one end of the Sidney Lanier Bridge where I could fly mine. It was a goodContinue reading “Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick”
